Crafty Monday

I have been busy for over a month trying to get to a craft project.
Things just kept jumping in my way.  I can't imagine how 5 girls and a baby would do that! ha!
Yesterday I took the time to sit and make a bow with my bow a dabra that I received recently.
This is the neatest little item when it comes to making a bow...

Before I go to much longer I will explain why I have a "July 4th" bow made in April....I had to explain it to Jesse too!  I guess I am the only person with patriotic themes on my mind....but with my two boys in the Service I tend to lean that way!  So there is the reason I am making a bow and wreath for my door at the end of April!

After I was finished with the bow I sat it aside til this morning.  The following things are what I used in making my wreath.
"Army Man Wreath"
1.  Wreath
2.  Red, white and blue flowers ( I found these at Michael's)
3. Stars and patriotic man  (I found these at Michaels too)
4. Yellow flowers with red tint (Yep, Michaels too)
5.  Glue Gun
6.  Pipe Cleaners

I started by attaching the bow to the wreath.  I put a small spot of glue on the yellow ribbons where they would attach to the wreath.  I then took the blue ribbon and attached them close to the yellow ribbons.

I took my cutting tool and cut the flowers off the stems.  I then took the flowers and attched them onto the wreath with the hot glue gun.

I placed the Patriotic Man in the middle of the wreath at the bottom with the stars on the right and left of him. I worked with the bow some more as far as making it look better then I decided it was time to take the wreath to place it on my door.

As I past thru the apartment I asked Jesse how he liked it....He said:  "Susan, it is not July 4th."  He did not get it...this was about the boys not the 4th of July, although I can use it for that!

Here is the wreath on the door:

The yellow is for when Ben goes overseas to Afghanstain.....goes something like this:
"Tie a yellow ribbon around the old oak tree"....

How I Met My Husband

at Kelly's Korner...I don't think I have ever told this story before except for when I had to correct Jesse telling it, of course! hehe!

How I met my Husband

I say: We met at a youth fellowship somewhere in the fall of 1979. My family was preparing to move to Mississippi to be near my Mom's parents so we were over there almost every weekend. We lived in West Monroe, La.
He says: That he was standing outside the church with his bestfriend the morning that my family drove up to attend church. (This would be a small country church) When I got out of the car (with my three other sisters, mind you! well, except Stephanie was like probably around 6 so she don't count) he turned to Morris and said: I'm gonna marry that girl someday! I have always kidded him that who was I to know that it was me with two other sisters close in age. ha!

I say: My dad would not let me date him until I was older cause he is 5 years older than me.
He says: I had my eyes on someone else and he had to wait til I turned them off that guy.

I say: He asked me out in October 1982. We went to see Rocky, of which he loves all of the Rocky movies, and to eat at Burger King.
He says: I agree that we did BUT you were so afraid to eat out that I had to force you to go there with me.

I say: I agree when the only times growing up that "going out to eat" was driving thru the Burger King drive thru and picking up the order to take back home.
I would not go back out with him again until March 1983. I was so scared that I was falling in love with him. Even though I was only 17 this idea scared me to death. We dated until my birthday, which is April 20, when he started talking to me about the idea of getting married. He then asked me to marry him on my 18th birthday. This idea rocked my world! I said no. Yes, I know that I was awful but ... We did go to my Prom that year together. To make the long story short sometime right after I graduated we were dating again.

Jesse was in the National Guard at that time. So the first two weeks of June he spent at Camp Shelby while I slaved away at T.G.& Y. hehe...not really "slaved" but I did work. I can say that I knew by then that he was the one and I had to get over this silly fear that I had. While he was gone to Camp Shelby I missed him tons. He called to tell me he would see me that weekend for he would be home. I was busy cleaning out the fish tank...woah! what a lovely job that was! when someone tapped me on the shoulder. I turned to see him in his fatigue's and started crying...I was so happy to see him! ( By the way, there is nothing like a man in fatique's or BDU's)
That weekend he proposed again and I said Yes!
We got married December 10, 1983.
We have been married 26 1/2 years with a daughter and two sons, two in-laws and one grandson!

Life couldn't be any better!

Blogmania Early Bird Check List

Blogmania Early Bird Check List:

We want all of our visiting guests in our first Blogmania Event scheduled for April 30th to -

Get on the Mark......

Get Set…

It’s not time to go yet, but if you want to have the most fun and scoop up as much loot as possible, here are a few Early Bird Reminders to help you do just that.

Be at any of the blogs participating in the Blogmania Event as early as possible on April 30th. The easiest way to find a Blogmania Blog is to look for the Blogmania Badge.

2. This is an international event, so understand that there will be some differences in time zones. My advice is to start early and stay late to catch all the blogs.

3. Each blog will have their own giveaway requirements. Read them carefully, follow through, and then move on as quickly as possible. If you run across a blog that you really like and want to spend some time exploring, copy their URL and then visit them after Blogmania is over.

4. We will have a 100+ blogs for you to visit. Each one will post their number like this. ( This is blog 47 of 100) This is to help you keep track of which blogs you’ve visited, and which ones you still need to reach. I’d suggest that you prepare a blog sheet which is numbered from 1 – 120, then mark off each numbered blog as you visit them.

5. All blog links provided will also have a number like (Blog 89 of 100). Look for the blogs that you haven’t yet visited and follow those links until you’ve checked off all the blogs on your sheet.

6. We have all types of blogs participating in Blogmania, which means that the range of items in their giveaways are diverse. I have previewed many and they are awesome.

7. Why not contact a friend and partner up. Compare notes, share loot, or organize your own friendly neighborhood Blogmania Competition.

This is our first Blogmania Event, but it isn’t our last. Blogmania is a bi-yearly Giveaway Extravaganza. In fact, our next Blogmania Event will start September 15th, and do we have some cool stuff planned for you! So keep in touch with our Blogmania Blogs, because they will be giving sneak previews, secret codes, and who knows what else in the weeks and months ahead

Sisters

Below is a poem that my baby sister wrote recently.  It is about all of us, the Sanders' Girls, that is.  Our Momma and Daddy {yes, we still call our daddy...daddy at our age, but then I am not gonna tell my age! he!} picked our names out and we were all SAS.  Not only did our first names start with an S but all of our second names started with an A!  Our Mom's father nicknamed all of his children and grandchildren...he had 10 children so if I were to take a guess of the other generations...I would say around 50 before he passed away.  At the end of baby sis's poem is our nicknames...hence came the title "Que's Ramblings" but she didn't put hers, Stuffie.  Baby Sis you did an awesome job...just like Momma always did with her poems!

Sisters

Sisters are special

Sisters are sweet

God blessed me 'specially

Ya see he gave me three

Four different people are we

With four different ideas

Sanders' girls who are Sanders' headstrong

And may not always get along

Closer we have grown

In the past couple of years

Since God called our Momma home

While we shed lots of tears

I'm glad to call them my kin, my peeps, my sisters, my family

Que, Tater and Sissy

Love ya guys....

A Circus...A Mom....and the 5 Minutes for Mom 2010 Ultimate Blog Party

Ultimate Blog Party 2010

I can get excited over anything....

and then there are days I feel like this:

Ooopppss!  I need to tell you about myself.  I am a mom to a daughter (24) and a son-in law, a son (21) and a daughter-in-law and another son (19).  I am very proud of the fact that I will have a graduation to attend in December where my daughter will become a teacher and that both of the boys are serving in the Army, one is full time and one is in the National Guard.  I am a Memaw to the most precious little boy that one could ever have who by the way is 18 months.

My husband, Jesse and I

are serving as Houseparents to Promise House, which is a part of the Arkansas Baptist Children's Home.  Promise House is a home for teen-age girls that are pregnant and girls that have gone thru our program who will be coming back here to live due to the fact they have no where else to go.  Our girls are in school, we go shopping, eating out, movies, picnics, and today we went to the Shriner's Circus!  We love where we are and the girls that come thru our program.  Our girls learn things to help them raise their baby.  We have nursing students and individuals that come to teach classes to teach them responsibilty with their baby.
Today was AWESOME
The circus was very good.  The snacks were even better and I know that all the girls would agree.  We were able to get pics with the clowns and then pics of all the stunts being performed.  We will have some great scrapbooking days ahead.

The prizes from the UPB 2010 would be:
The Grand Prize, who me! then numbers US71, US57 and US 68.

Later,

Susan

Que's Traveling Sewing Box

Looks like a tool box but.....

this tool box ...holds tools of another trade!

with a handy dandy tray that if you look closely the owner (me, ha!) bought at least 10 packs of sewing machine needles before I begin to organize the past couple of weeks!
So all the "loose" sewing stuff in my sewing room is now contained!
{Don't look too closely for you will see that I have a fixation with scissors!}

In the bottom part of the sewing box there is plenty of room for all my lovely things...

The neatest thing for this ol' Fibro lady is:

This baby has wheels!

It won't be long til we are telling our soldier goodbye

headed across the ocean
to defend our country, the U.S.A. in Afghanstan.

I love you son!

Easter Sunday 2010

We spent Easter at our daughter and son-in-love's home.   We were able to attend church with them and alot of his family.  They cooked a great meal with the family bringing in dishes with banana pudding and some delicious pecan "thingies"....we then watched the little ones hunt the eggs.  We were back on the road to Little Rock by 2:30 and at home by 7:00 p.m.  Our days off are often spent traveling to one or the other's kids homes.  I wouldn't trade it for the world!

First time for me to buy the matching accesories!

So handsome.....
